Marco Rossi, a multidisciplinary artist, returns to Venice with the solo exhibition Al di là del velo, hosted at CREA - Cantieri del Contemporaneo. The exhibition presents a body of unpublished works that range between painting and audiovisual, building a visual dialogue through the complexity of the human psyche.
An immersion in the subconscious and in the search for self-awareness, the exhibition path revolves around the theme of self-awareness and the way in which we face or avoid our internal conflicts. In the visual language of the artist, the subconscious is transformed into a stage where dreams reflect the masks we wear every day. These identity and social constructs are progressively abandoned, revealing the vulnerability, complexity and authenticity of the human being.
The fulcrum of the exhibition is Falling, a hypnotic video that captures the moment of the fall, both a physical and emotional symbol. The work, awarded in a previous exhibition in the same spaces, sets the tone of the exhibition path, accompanying the viewer in a reflection on the fragility and constant change of our identity in a frenetic world. The fall is not only a loss, but also the possibility to explore new meanings, allowing the subconscious to emerge in all its power.
The exhibition takes inspiration from the philosophical concept of Schopenhauer's Veil of Maya, according to which perceived reality is only an illusion. Through his works, Marco Rossi invites the viewer to explore the unexplored territories of the subconscious, discovering a more authentic and universal truth.
The works are not simple representations of reality, but portals to a surreal landscape where the subconscious dominates and the frenetic pace of the modern world dissolves. This leaves room for contemplation and the discovery of the raw essence of the human being.
Beyond the Veil is not just a journey through images, but an invitation to reflect on the nature of the masks we wear every day. The artist challenges the visitor to remove these layers of protection and confront the turbulent currents of the psyche. In this journey, dreams act as a mirror, revealing what often remains hidden even to ourselves.
The exhibition offers an immersive experience that celebrates introspection as a means to overcome the illusions of reality. Through Marco Rossi’s visual language, visitors are guided to reconnect with their most authentic essence, discovering that in dreams, as in life, the desire to understand our true self is universal.
