CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo is a project that starts from far, from the first steps of One Contemporary Art Association on the Giudecca Island in 2016. During the last six years, the contemporary arts intervention project within the "Consorzio di Cantieristica Minore Veneziana" has been calibrating itself, identifying itself more and more towards a permanent and daily collaboration with the local artisans, almost merging into a single vision, in a single direction that daily aims to preserve the identity of the city, its heritage of arts, crafts and residences, drawing on the proactive power of the world of contemporary arts.
Six exhibition spaces have been created over the years in this suggestive construction site, spaces created alongside, never overlapping, the artisan shops, filling gaps in the text in places, over time, which have remained in disuse.
"CREA Cantieri del Contemporaneo" therefore arises from the need to concentrate and push in the direction of this path, a path almost spontaneously born, organic to the place that hosts us and its needs.
From September 2022, the "Consorzio Cantieristica Minore" will also host the classes of new technologies of the arts of the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, a further and very important addition to a triangulation between Crafts, Visual Arts and Didactics that is at the center of our mission.
